SP aims for a rabies – free Bataan

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Bataan Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Committee on Health yesterday held a public hearing providing for comprehensive  animal regulation and on rabies control and eradication in the province.

Board Member Aristotle Gaza, chair of SP Committee on Health presided the public hearing attended by some 100 provincial and municipal board members, Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Bataan General Hospital (BGH) and other stakeholders at the Louis Restaurant Capitol road here.

Gaza stressed during the said occasion that the draft provincial ordinance needs valuable inputs from the multisectoral groups and other participants to strengthen the objective of the local government in its bid for a rabies –free Bataan.

Gaza said the inclusion of the Bataan Mayors League president Dinalupihan town mayor Maria Angela Garcia as vice chairman of the Bataan Rabies Control Consultative Committee (BRCCC) headed by the provincial governor would greatly contribute to the wider implementation of the anti-rabies control and eradication programs in the countryside.

Board Member Dante Manalaysay said the proposed provincial ordinance for comprehensive animal regulation is tantamount to an integrated approach for the protection of animal pets and making vital good health and other social services accessible to the residents.

He explained more allocation for anti- rabies vaccines and medical facilities should be provided for the residents under this program.

Manalaysay urged all government and private sectors to help in eradicating rabies which affected the health and well-being of the residents.
