BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Provincial Police Office here is planning to tap local radio stations in reporting and solving crime.
Bataan police director Senior Superintendent Rhodel Sermonia explained the procedure of the project during his hour-long interview over 104.5 FM Power Radio held the other day, seeking partnership with local radio stations in Central Luzon for prompt reporting and resolution of crime incidents.
According to Sermonia the radio model, brainchild of Acting Police Regional Director chief superintendent Rudy Lacadin “Krimen itxt Mo, Aksyonan Ko seeks to provide a mechanism where the public can provide vital information on crimes without the need of divulging their identities,” “It is likewise meant as a feedback tool in determining the performance of our policemen and women in the field and act as deterrence to police abuses,” Lacadin added.
Under the program, partner stations would promote the various activities of PRO 3 and plug the text lines where the public could report crime incidents and other matters needing police intervention. Each partner station has designated text lines.
“Our partners would also provide a workplace for the Police Non-Commissioned Officer on duty who would receive, acknowledge, and refer the reports to concerned units for appropriate action,” Lacadin added.
In a related development, Bataan Governor Albert Raymond Garcia urged local officials and multi-sectoral agencies including civic, religious and professionals to carry out a workable safety measure which would help maintain peace and prosperity in the province.
Garcia said the active participation of the residents in promoting peace and order would maintain the sound business prospect for attracting locators in the province’s six flourishing ecozones.
Likely, the expansion of energy and power plants in the two industrial towns of Limay and Mariveles is significantly a big factor to the emerging status of Bataan as a premier investment hub in Central Luzon, Garcia added.
