ABUCAY,Bataan- Mayor Ana D. Santiago has issued an Executive Order  creating a technical working group to undertake exhaustive monitoring and evaluation of the sanitation and environmental compliance of some 10 poultry and piggery farms in the upland villages after residents complained about the proliferation of flies and generation of obnoxious odor .

About 300 residents petitioned the alleged cleanliness and sanitation problems which reportedly are hazardous to the health of the residents living near the poultry and piggery farms because of the failure of the owners to institute strict sanitation and environmental  measures.

Santiago said the technical working group would regularly conduct assessment and inspection of the facilities of the piggery and poultry to make sure that they comply with the laws and ordinances in the establishment of livestock business in the community.

The team will conduct regular site inspection and inventory of all poultry and piggery farms  and recommend the imposition of sanctions and penalties including closure of the said establishments if ever they see violations of health, sanitation and environmental  laws before the municipal mayor.

The Technical Working Group is headed by Dr. Irma R. Mendoza, Municipal Health Officer; Engineers Ernesto Vergara and Guillermo Carlos ,Andrea Hernandez, and two members of the Sangguniang Bayan , councilors Edwin Bernales and Dante Baluyot.
