THE Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) is poised to pursue its expansion program to have a quicker economic bounce back from the Covid-19 pandemic.
In his recent Third State of the Freeport Address (SOFA) celebrating the 11th anniversary of the freeport, Engr. Emmanuel D. Pineda said the FAB has started expanding its economic foot print with the concurrence of local government units (LGUs) and national agencies through the establishment of FAB expansion area outside of Mariveles.
“Despite the pandemic, the FAB now has more than 55 hectares of approved areas that can create 3,000 more jobs in the industries of real estate, leisure and life style, business process outsourcing (BPO), and information technology,” Pineda announced.
The new areas are in the City of Balanga, municipalities of Dinalupihan, Abucay, and Pilar.
He said the FAB is creating ways to improve the quality of life of Bataan folks. “Inilalapit namin ang trabaho sa mga tao, upang sa ganun hindi na kayo mamamasahe pa papuntang Mariveles,” said Pineda.
