Alas-asin Elementary School, 2017 Best “Brigada Eskwela” implementer

MARIVELES, Bataan – Alas-asin Elementary School (Alas-asin ES) in this first-class town was awarded by the Department of Education (DepED) in the national awarding  of the 2017 Best Brigada Eskwela Implementing Schools in Elementary and Secondary Levels held at Puerto Princesa, Palawan on Friday.

“Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion, Bataan Schools Division Superintendent Jessie Ferrer, Alas-asin Elementary School Principal Marjorie Palomo, headed our contingent that attended the ceremony held at Puerto Princesa Coliseum”, said Councilor Tito Catipon.

Alas-asin ES was earlier  adjudged by DepED as the champion (Elementary Level-Large School Category) in the Regional Awarding of the 2017 Best Brigada Eskwela Implementing Schools in Elementary and Secondary Levels.

“No less than DedEd Secretary Leonor Briones led the national awarding ceremony in Puerto Princesa”, said the councilor who is the SB Chairman of the Committee on Education.

Alas-asin ES officials expressed thanks to Concepcion and Vice Mayor Lito Rubia, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan especially Catipon for the support.

The leadership tandem of Concepcion and Rubia is putting premium on education, which is fully backed by the members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

In 1998, DepEd addressed the issues of classroom shortage, overcrowded classes, and schools being not ready for the upcoming school year, through the Adopt-a-School Program (ASP).

The initiative allowed a partnership with other stakeholders who are willing to share resources to improve the country’s public school education.

The program became successful and in order to reach even more people, DepEd cascaded the program to the communities in 2003 through Brigada Eskwela.
