Anti smoking and solid waste management campaigns launched

   SAMAL, Bataan – The municipal government here on Saturday launched the Anti-Smoking and Waste Segregation Campaigns in connection to the provincial ordinances being implemented in the Province.

   Municipal Mayor Generosa “Gene” Malibiran- Dela Fuente was joined by Vice Mayor Aida Macalinao and the municipal council membersbarangay officials, department heads, students and various government agencies and organizations in a grand parade from Villa Esperanza in Lalawigan to the major streets of the municipality.

   “In the recent past, all government centers are already no smoking areas and the municipal council here amended the existing ordinance adopting the provincial law being implemented now,” Dela Fuente told reporters covering the event.

   Students from different schools and barangay (village) personnel carry placards with slogans about the bad effects of smoking and dirty environment.

   Officials from the Department of Health and the Provincial Health Office explained the importance of the campaign during the program proper at the covered court beside the town’s municipal hall.

   “In 2013, our governor launched a provincial anti smoking ordinance and almost all the 11 municipalities here are now continuously adopting it into their respective towns. The governor targets a 100% smoke-free Bataan,” Dr. Rossana Buccahan, the provincial health officer, told newsmen.
