PILAR, Bataan – Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Most Rev. Gabriele Giordano Caccia and Balanga Diocese Bishop Ruperto Santos led the pilgrimage held last Saturday, December 1.
Bataan leaders that included Gov. Abet Garcia, Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, Cong. Joet Garcia, Mayor Garcia, and Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion also joined.
The pilgrimage is an annual event of the Diocese of Balanga started in 2004 to mark the First Sunday of Advent. The pilgrims walk the seven kilometer distance from the foot of the famous mountain to the World War II monument, the Dambana ng Kagitingan.
As a way of thanksgiving, Mayor Francis Garcia and SK Federated President Jim Espinosa, with the help of friends as well as peace and order volunteers, distributed 28,000 bottled water to the faithful who joined the 15th Mt. Samat Pilgrimage.
