ORION, Bataan – The first baby girl of a teenaged couple in Orion, Bataan was born at 12:06 in the morning of Sunday, earning her a spot in the list of the Population Commission as one of the 100 millionth Filipinos.
Jelo Mae, the first child of a 17- year old former carinderia helper and a gasoline station attendant was born in normal spontaneous delivery at the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City.
Jenny Guerra, 44, said the baby is her first grandchild. “Masaya ako at nagpapasalamat sa Diyos na napabilang ang anak ko sa nanganak ng alas-12:06 ng umaga. Salamat sa Diyos na nagkaloob ng biyaya sa apo ko,” the grandmother said.
The family lives in a modest house made of nipa roof and sawali walls along the side of the Roman Superhighway, Sta. Elena, Orion, Bataan.
“Pangarap ko na sa pagdating ng panahon, makatapos ng pag-aaral ang apo ko para hindi niya maranasan ang nararanasan namin,” Guerra added.
Another baby, a boy, was born also at the Bataan General Hospital at 12:10 a.m. of Sunday. His mother is 23-year old Irene Gallego of Cabog-Cabog, Balanga City.
