BALANGA CITY, Bataan – This component city was awarded for the third time as the 1st Place Winner for Outstanding Local Government Unit, Component City Category in the 2016 National Literacy Awards (NLA) given by the Republic of the Philippines Coordinating Council.
Mayor Garcia, in his acceptance speech, emphasized that aside from traditional learning, one of his main priorities is to equip Balangueños with computer literacy skills thru the Barangay Learning Hub.
Garcia added that this learning hub in every barangay (village) of Bataan’s only component city is a venue for learning wherein citizens can enjoy free computer access specifically for educational purposes.
The NLA recognizes outstanding local government units that made remarkable inroads in bringing literacy to more community constituency.
