ORANI, Bataan – Sharing the same advocacy on environmental conservation, Balanga City Lions Club joined the Orani  Water District (OWD)  tree-planting activity in Tala watershed in Barangay Tala, Orani on Saturday.

“Environmental conservation and protection is also our advocacy”, said Lions Club District 301 D2 District Chairman for Health and Fitness Rey Gonzales.

“We immediately decided to support the reforestation project upon learning it”, he also said.

Just like other volunteers, they ascended by foot about 6 kilometers slippery mud road to reach the upland reforestation site.

It was OWD’s 6th annual planting activity. The planting activity attracted a good number of environment advocates from many sectors.

“We have already planted 60,000 trees in Tala watershed”, OWD General Manager Benni Andres said.

The reforestation program of OWD covering 28 hectares watershed area, which is part of Bataan National Park, has been attracting the support of volunteers from various sectors.
