Balanga, First Runner up in Champion of Sustainability Award

Balanga City, Bataan emerged as a major awardee, clinching First  Runner-up for the Champion of Sustainability Award during the Smart and Sustainable Communities Program  Awards 2025 held in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, on November 21.

Four local government units from Central Luzon were honored for their outstanding efforts in building smart and sustainable communities. Balanga City  was also cited for achieving Level III under the sustainability category through its initiative, “Development and Citywide Implementation of the Barangay Governance Information System (BGIS): Advancing Smart Governance and Strengthening Barangay Interconnectedness in the City of Balanga, Bataan.” The program showcases continued commitment of Balanga to modernizing public service and enhancing data-driven barangay governance.

Also recognized during  the ceremony were the City of San Fernando, Pampanga; Tarlac City, Tarlac; and City of Malolos, Bulacan.
