Balanga Wetland Park, now a responsible community-based ecotourism zone

In support to the province’s initiative in preserving local tourism areas, Republic Act 11365 has been approved, declaring the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park located at Barangay Tortugas, Balanga City as a Responsible Community-Based Ecotourism Zone and Appropriating Funds Therefor last August 8.

The consolidated bills authored by Congressman Joet Garcia III and Senator Cynthia Villar passed on 3rd reading last July 23, 2019 during the third regular session of the 17th Congress.
RA 11365 also states that Balanga Wetland and Nature Park is hereby declared a special ecotourism zone and it shall be accorded priority development by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone (TIEZA).

One of the main objectives of RA 11365 is to develop and promote responsible community-based ecological tourism which falls under the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park management. RA 11365 will be a great opportunity to welcome more tourists in the future for the City of Balanga.
Incidentally, the annual Ibong Dayo Festival is always held at the Balanga Wetland and Nature Park.
