Bataan builds its dream with BYD

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Akin to the fast economic growth and high value added employment opportunities that Bataan currently enjoys is the need to develop better infrastructure, educational institutions and programs, health facilities, transportation system and governance to name a few.

The transport system is a major challenge in the mobility of people and goods in all aspects of development, particularly in highly industrialized localities such as in Balanga City and Mariveles.

As the provincial government led by Gov. Albert S. Garcia sees this need, it remains steadfast in its commitment to pursue sustainable growth, hence opting for the use of greener transportation solution to sustain environmentally sound communities and provide smart growth technologies – making Bataan province the first carbon neutral province in the Philippines, making it the best place to live, study, work and raise a family.

Relentless in pursuing this commitment, in Late April of this year, Gov. Garcia accepted an invitation from a leading hi-tech enterprise providing electronics manufacturing services from the People’s Republic of China, the BYD Auto Industry Company Ltd who has succeeded brilliantly in deploying its proprietary technologies to materialize its dream – a livable environment for humankind, to visit Shenzhen, China to explore the possible areas of cooperation and partnership between Bataan and BYD. The timing is perfect.

On May 30, a delegation from BYD led by its General Manager, Mr. Liu Xueliang, together with international members of the press is coming to Bataan to forge specific areas of cooperation and partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to implement a comprehensive Monorail Transit System in Bataan with the end in view of relieving the local traffic congestions and at the same time optimizing the transportation conditions.

Committed to achieve lower carbon emission and sustainable development, both the BYD and the Provincial Government of Bataan are working closely to introduce the first batch of 10 units of BYD electric buses for operation in Bataan before December 31, of this year.

Given BYD’s track record since its entry into the automobile industry in 2003, its relentless efforts in technological innovation have resulted in the development of many core technologies, including power trains for both conventional and new energy vehicles, automotive electronics, molding, testing, design, and production of vehicles, this partnership only means one thing: Bataan has once again moved a notch closer to the achievement of its vision, that by the year 2020, Bataan Province will have the lowest poverty incidence resulting from quality growth, attaining top level Human Development Index in the Philippines.
