BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The multi-agency Operation Greyhound for the third quarter this year was conducted at the Bataan District Jail.
“Just like in earlier operations, we did not find illegal drugs, liquor, and cigarette during the search”, said Jail Superintendent Andrew Tauli, Bataan District Jail Warden, who led the joint inspection of jail cells with operatives and representatives of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bataan PNP Provincial Force Mobile Company, Balanga police, and media on Monday.
“What we collected were assorted and unnecessary items that needed to be taken out so as not to congest the cells”, he said.
“We also retrieved improvised knifes that they probably use for cutting vegetables and other kitchen foods but these should be properly accounted since these are still considered deadly weapons”, he also said.
“We do not anymore intercept cigarettes from visitors at the gate that means they realize that we are serious in our campaign. In the first place, it is primarily for the welfare of inmates especially those who have respiratory problem”, he added.
“We did not find any contrabands but it does not mean we will become lenient. We will just continue our stringent measures”, Tauli said.
Roel Tarayao of TV 5 and this writer represented the media during the search.
Aside from the multi-agency search Operation Greyhound, BJMP conducts its own search for contrabands inside jail cells at least four times a month.
