Bataan enhances carbon sequestration thru tree planting

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In one of the regular sessions of the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan, a resolution authorizing the Provincial Governor of Bataan, Gov. Abet Garcia, to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Municipality of Orion, PNOC Alternative Fuels Corporation and the Samahang Magsasaka sa Kataasang Lupa ng Gen, Lim, on a tree planting activity with Community Base Forestry Management in line  with the Let’s Go Green Advocacy and the National Greening Program of the DENR, has been duly approved under resolution 052.
The proposed amendment authored by Board Member Rey Ibe, stated that this is in consonance with the goal of enhancing the carbon sequestration of the province which maximizes the use/assistance of Community Based Forestry Management (CBFM) land located at Brgy. Gen. Lim, Orion, Bataan.
The MOA stated that the SAMAKALUGEN, a people’s organization will be engaged in protecting, managing, rehabilitating, conserving and utilizing resources within the CBFM area pursuant to EO 263 and DAO 96-29 at the two (2) hectares land in Brgy. Gen Lim. The Agreement aims to facilitate the tree planting activity to meet the Programmatic Environmental Compliance Certificate (PECC) condition 14.2 reforestation program and part of the plans and programs of the PAFC Industrial Parks Corporate Social Responsibility.
