Bataan farmers receive cash loans from Landbank

About 206 farmers in the province of Bataan benefitted from more than PhP3 million cash loan recently given through the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP).
Farmer-beneficiaries from the towns of Hermosa, Morong, Bagac, Mariveles, and Limay make up the first batch of farmers in the province who received PhP15,000 each via Landbank cash cards.

Mayor Jopet Inton of Hermosa, Atty. TonyBoy Roman (representing Congresswoman Geraldine Roman), Bataan 2nd District Rep. Joet Garcia, and Board Member Godofredo “Doc Bong” Galicia and Landbank officials attended the recent distribution schedules held in Hermosa town and Balanga City.

The loan, which is given to farmers who have been affected by the sudden drop of rice price this year, is under the Expanded Survival and Recovery Assistance Program of the Department of Agriculture.

Landbank, along with the DA, has launched the Expanded Survival and Recovery Assistance program, or the SURE Aid, aimed to provide one-time zero-interest loan of P15,000 for farmers tilling one hectare and below.

Geraldine B. Roman said.

Under the said cash loan, the farmer-beneficiaries must pay PhP1,000 in a semi-annual amortization period, with zero percent interest, from 2020 to 2027.
The farmers must sign an application and loan documents and have them verified and notarized before the cash cards were handed to them.

Aside from the initial loan recipients, another batch of farmers from other towns will also receive their cash cards in the coming weeks.
