The Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and Athena Energy Holdings, last February 23, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of a 50 megawatt solar photovoltaic plant in Mariveles.

It will be remembered that on July 17, 2019, GGGI, a treaty-based international organization, and PGB signed a MOU on Green Growth Cooperation, in support to PGB’s goal of ‘Carbon Neutral Bataan’. Athena Energy Holdings, a renewable energy investment firm, has expressed interest in investing in the project as they have the expertise in project development, financing, and funding to successfully deliver projects through Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

The three parties jointly agreed on the development of 50 MW solar PV plant to be co-developed and co-invested by Athena and PGB.
“This will be an important milestone to realize our vision of a carbon-neutral Bataan”, Garcia said.
