Bataan leads in protecting the rights of women and children

The Bataan Police Provincial Office holds today, July 25, the first ever Women’s Summit, “Kababaihan Kontra Karahasan” (KKK) and the launching of the newly formed Violence Against Women Task Force Committee at Lou-is Resort & Restaurant, Balanga City.

Vice Governor Cris Garcia gave an inspirational message to the attendees composed of Municipal Social Welfare Officers, SK Presidents, department heads of municipal offices and PNP personnel from all over the province.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ricardo B. Santiago Jr. presented the the crime rates report affecting the women and children in the province from 2018 to 2019. Majority of the cases occur in victims or suspects’ residence. The oldest victim recorded was 94 years old and the youngest was 2 years old.
Lectures include women empowerment, knowledge of laws protecting women specifically Republic Act No. 9262 also known as Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children. Tips on how to prevent such cases were discussed by Police Major Sylvia Azurin, Atty. Nadine Guzman, and Police Major Raquel Pagnas.
Aside from the discussion, there is also an on-going workshop facilitated by the technical working group and a 5-minute presentation of output on each municipality/city.
