Bataan provides housing assistance for IPs

Determined to provide better shelters to the Indigenous People in Indigenous Cultural Communities (IP/ICC) and improve their living condition, the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) offers resettlement/housing assistance through the National Housing Authority (NHA).

Mr. Christopher Leonzon, head of Bataan Human Settlement Office under the Provincial Governor’s Office (BHSO-PGO) met with the local government officials of Abucay last Friday, January 15, to discuss the housing assistance to be given to IPs in Barangay Bangkal as it is one of the most IP populated areas of in the province.

Mr. Leonzon said other LGUs of Bataan can also request to avail of the assistance for as long as they can comply with the requirements such as provision of land and submission of necessary documents.

The assistance will be granted by the National Housing Authority (NHA) as the co-implementor/fund source, LGU as the lead implementor, National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) as the coordinating agency and the local tribal chieftain as the facilitator. Said program shall be in the form of grant that is not to exceed P20M and shall be utilized for land development and/or housing construction.
