Charged with the promotion of health and safety within their jurisdiction, all local government units (LGUs) are mandated to take the lead in the prevention and control of the spread of COVID-19 in their localities. In fighting this unseen enemy, the mandatory use of face masks and the strict observance of social distancing play a crucial role; hence the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan, last June 3, unanimously approved Ordinance No. 9 s. 2020 requiring the use of face masks in public places by all persons within the province during the ECQ or GCQ and any extension thereof.
To achieve this end, on June 8, the SP likewise approved Ordinance No.10 mandating the observance of physical or social distancing and imposing the corresponding penalties therefor. Both Ordinances were sponsored by Board Member Godofredo Galicia, Jr.
