BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Grade 8 students of the Bataan National High School staged a program to celebrate the Spanish culture through a festival of talents featuring songs, dances, cosplay of famous personalities and a fair. Mrs. Merlinda Dominguez, Principal of BNHS, said that the Spanish subject under the SPFL (special program for foreign language) is one of the languages offered to students of BNHS and she hopes the students will enjoy the subject. She also acknowledged the support of the parents in the different activities which she believes help the students to learn better.
Alyssa Soriano, one of the students, said that learning the Spanish subject allows them to understand the past, that it’s been a part of the Filipino culture having been under Spain for 333 years that most of our history, art, and literature are related to the Spanish culture.
While Elijah, another student said that the Spanish subject connects them to a greater cultural brotherhood that enables them to understand fiestas, cuisine, and traditions as well as names of people, towns and provinces which are highly regarded in Spanish, besides it’s good for a student to be multilingual.
The festival of Talents started with a parade in the morning, cosplay of famous Spanish personalities, song and dance competition in Spanish and
a fair of the Spanish culture.
