BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Science and Technology Community-based Farm (STCBF) on Mango Production in Bataan project of the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) was adjudged 3rd Place Best Development Paper Award in Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources during the recent National Symposium on Agriculture, Aquatic, and National Resources Research and Development (NSAARRD).
Dr. Hermogenes Paguia, BPSU OIC, Director for Extension and Training Services and project leader, who acted as the presenter of the project at the symposium, received the Plaque of Recognition.
“The award was under the Development Category. Our project was endorsed by Central Luzon Agriculture and Aquatic Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) for the symposium, and there were several entries from 13 consortiums all over the country under Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), and we managed to be included in the top 3”, he said.
The project established 15 mango STCBF sites wherein the S & T interventions applied resulted to increased yield and gross and net incomes, and efficient pesticide usage.
The project showcased the significance of adopting science-based technologies and promoted the continued and sustained adoption by the mango farmer-cooperators in Bataan.
