BPSU SINGERS BAG INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Singers under the baton of Mr. Joven Magbanua and able supervision of BPSU Cultural Directors Dr. Remigio C. Sacdalan Jr, and Mr. Yves Ed. Cortez bagged numerous golden awards during the recently concluded “A Voyage of Songs (AVOS) 2019 International Choral Festival” last July 19 to 22 held at Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

AVOS International Choral Festival was first held in 2003 in Malaysia and later on became one of the leading choral competitions all over the world. BPSU Singers bagged the following awards: Jury Prize, Chanson De Voyage (Song of the Year), Folklore Category, and Sacred Music Runner-up. The following awards focused mainly on the group that rendered a song which received the highest score from the jury during the entire competition; relevance to the theme “A Voyage of Songs,” and the group whose average score in the category crossed either a gold, silver, or bronze bracket.

The winning piece of the BPSU Singers is one of the famous Philippine folk song “Paru-Parong Bukid” which bagged the Folklore Category Champion, and Chanson De Voyage (Song of the Year).
A total of 21 choral groups joined the AVOS 2019 from different countries such as China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Macau, and Inner Mongolia. International judges were from USA, Canada, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and Philippines.
