“The environmental activities being launched by Mr. Chawalitanon and his group at PTT is a big help to the country and to the Province of Bataan and we laud them for their concern to us,” Gov. Abet S. Garcia, told Dennis Cuarto, Consultant of PTT.
Cuarto, who grabbed headlines in national and local newspapers years ago for leading an environmental program at Tarak Ridge, the highest mountain in Mariveles that serves as watershed, informed Gov. Garcia that PTT will sponsor an environmental summit come June 25 here that is expected to be attended by around 1,500 guests including local executives, barangay officials, students and members of nongovernment organizations. Among the expected speakers are Neric Acosta, Presidential Adviser on Environment; Gov Garcia, and Francisco Milla, Regional Executive Director.
Top officials of the PTT Philippines headed by its chairman Wisarn Chawalitanon are now coordinating with Governor Garcia for the said summit to be held at the Bataan People’s Center.
Garcia welcomed the environmental summit as this will benefit the Province and the people of Bataan. Prior to this, Chawalitanon and Garcia braved the scorching heat of the sun when they themselves led the planting of trees along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway along Hermosa area.
Last Saturday morning, a team of PTT officials led by Environmentalist Dennis Cuarto; Shanadine Llanera, Corporate social responsibility head; and Jay Julian personally conducted an ocular inspection inside the Bataan People’s Center in preparation for the holding of the said regional event.
Bataenos lauded PTT for initiating various environmental programs aimed at protecting the country’s environment, particularly Bataan.
PTT now has a total of 73 gas stations in Luzon and Cebu but Julian said that the Company is still on its expansion program.” We’ll put up one station along the SCTEx -Concepcion area.”
This is not the first time that PTT has conducted such environmental programs as it had been initiating tree planting activities in Hermosa, Bataan and other areas.
