Carlin Pizarro lands Top 9 at World Shoot XX in South Africa

Carlin Eidhie Margaret Pizarro, 14-year-old daughter of Pilar, Bataan Mayor Carlos “Charlie” Pizarro Jr., made a strong international debut after placing in the Top 9 of the Standard Lady Category at the prestigious World Shoot XX in South Africa.

The World Shoot, considered the Olympics of practical shooting, gathered more than 1,800 shooters from about 50 countries at the Frontier Shooting Range in Matlosana. The quadrennial event is organized by the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) and is regarded as the highest-level competition in the sport.

Carlin’s achievement comes on the heels of her earlier success at the 46th Southeast Asian Shooting Association (SEASA) Championship, where she captured titles in the lady and standard divisions. Those victories paved the way for her inclusion in the Philippine delegation to the World Shoot.

She is among five Bataan-born athletes representing the Philippines in South Africa, alongside Renrio Mariano in the Team Open Division, Erin Micor in the Team Open Lady Division, Melvin Cruz in the Team Production Optics Division, and Luisito Miguel C. de Guzman, 16, in the Junior Open Division.

The Philippine delegation expressed confidence in securing more strong finishes as the competition progresses. Local officials in Bataan hailed Carlin’s performance, saying her debut on the world stage reflects not only her personal talent and discipline but also the growing presence of young Filipino shooters in international competition.
