BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In celebration of this year’s cooperative month, around 700 cooperatives members from Central Luzon will be joining a sports festival, dubbed KOOPlympics on October 7 at the Subic Gym, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. There are 2,358 registered coops in Central Luzon with about 600,000 members.
With the theme, “Kooperatiba: Maaasahan sa Pagsulong ng Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan ng Bayan”, “KOOPlympics aims to promote camaraderie and sportsmanship, and develop team work among members of coops in Central Luzon”, said Bataan Provincial Cooperative and Development Officer, Azucena Sugatain.
Invited guests of honor are CDA Chairman Eulogio T. Castillo, SBMA Chairman and Administrator Roberto V. Garcia, Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado of Bulacan, and Bataan Provincial Board Member Teri Onor.
Cooperatives Development Authority Director Marietta P. Hwang and Regional Cooperative Development Council Chairperson Leticia C. Tarroza will be joining the cooperatives development officers of the provinces and cities in the region namely Guy Alipio A. Tuzon of Aurora; Sugatain of Bataan; Cynthia P. Abiol of Bulacan; Raymund G. Sarmiento of Nueva Ecija; Luningning Y. Vergara of Pampanga; Marvi T. Dela Cruz of Tarlac; Romualdo Ramos of Zambales; Ferdinand Calma of Angeles City; and Jaime Mendoza of Olongapo City in leading the participants of KOOPlympics.
Aside from regular sports, games for team-building will be staged like “Bakya Mo Neneng,” “Last Man Standing,” “Coop Trivia,” “Black Out Bingo,” “Paglalakbay ni Plaridel,” “Pinoy Henyo,” “Tug of War,” “Buntot Mo, Huli Ko,” “Sack Race,” “Luksong-Tinik, Hoola Hoop,” and many more.
Each of the provinces and cities, and the agency will be donning a particular rainbow color for the sports event: violet for Aurora; orange for Bataan; red for Bulacan; indigo for Nueva Ecija; yellow for Tarlac; green for Pampanga and Angeles City; blue for Zambales; and white for CDA. Trophies and cash prizes will be given to winners.
In connection to the coop month celebration, Local Tax Forum will be held on October 27 at the Heroes Hall, Capitol Compound, Pampanga.
