BALANGA City, Bataan – The City of Balanga concluded Wednesday its 7th Education Summit with the theme “Rediscovering the Heart of Collaboration” at the Lou-is Restaurant here.
More than 1,800 delegates from various schools and organizations attended the two-day affair. City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III lauded the cooperation of parents and teachers for the success of every summit aimed at preparing the city as “University Town” by year 2020.
Mayor Rodrigo Duterte of Davao City was the special guest of honor. He inducted new sets of officers of the General School/Federated Parent-Teachers Association from kinder and grade schools to high schools. Duterte espoused the adoption of a federal form of government for the country in his message to parents and teachers as well as to 25 Punong Barangays of the city.
Ging Igual, Certified and Licensed Emotional Quotient trainer, lectured to parents at the Lou-is’ grand ballroom. She dealt on discovering emotional intelligence, science of emotions, impact of emotions to actions and role of parents in school engagement.
Arcie Mallari, Silid Aralan, Inc. president, talked on Think: Intelligence Quotient to teachers at Lou-is’ Patio Isadora.
Provincial Board member Manuel Beltran, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Education chair, enumerated the various programs on education of the provincial government headed by Gov. Albert Garcia like scholarships for thousands of college students and free masteral course for teachers.
Dr. Ronaldo Pozon, City Schools Division Superintendent, briefed the delegates and guests on the status of education in the city schools.
