Bataan First District Rep. Tony Roman recently explained House Bill 608, or the Farmer Coopetition and Empowerment Act, which seeks to strengthen the country’s agricultural sector through farm clustering. Roman said the proposed measure aims to consolidate small farms into organized farm clusters.
He said clustering allows farmers to benefit from stronger bargaining power, better access to modern facilities and technologies, improved pricing for their harvests, and more accessible support from both government and private institutions.
He explained agricultural production becomes more efficient, farmers’ incomes are boosted, and the nation’s overall food security is strengthened.
