PROPER consultation with the local government units shall be made before any project or activities involving the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) gets started.
This was tackled and approved during the discussion on Tuesday of implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of RA 11453, An Act Further Strengthening the Powers and Functions of the AFAB which amends the provisions in the charter of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).

AFAB source said that no demolition of houses shall be made without prior relocation of the residents. The AFAB, however, had already set aside some 60-hectares of land for the residents of Barangay Malaya and Barangay Maligaya but the lot will be paid by the residents at an affordable price through cash or installment.

The IRR discussion held at the AFAB administration building was attended by Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton, Limay Vice Mayor Richie Jayson David, former Mariveles Mayor Oca delos Reyes, and representatives from other municipalities.
The expansion of FAB facilities was proposed to attract more foreign investors and further create jobs for residents.
