The Provincial Veterinary Office of Bataan had been conducting backyard farm disinfection for hog-raisers in preparation for national government assistance even as the Department of Agriculture pledged to give P5 million to help the affected sector.
Dr. Alberto Venturina, provincial veterinarian, said backyard farm disinfection had been going on in Balanga City, Bagac, Morong, and Hermosa towns. “On going ito dahil may darating na national program para sa mga hog raisers, priority ang hindi nabayaran noong nakaraan,” he said.
The national government is pouring in P5 million for hog restocking program under which a hog raiser will receive five heads with feeds and swine multiplier farm.
The national government earlier announced it was considering a 50 percent insurance subsidy for commercial hog raisers.
Venturina said the price of pork in Bataan now is a bit lower than the previous months following enough supply from within the province.
