Briones: My father died of stroke due to smoking
Education Secretary Leonor Briones, one of the well-respected Cabinet member of Duterte administration admitted her father died of stroke as a result of smoking.
Briones came all the way from her office in Manila to speak before a big gathering of students, teachers, government employees, and provincial officials, and municipal mayors for the Tobacco Free Generation movemen’t “Hataw” on Thursday afternoon (September 27) at the Vista Mall in Balanga City.
She lauded the effort of Bataan Gov. Abet Garcia, Congressman Jose Enrique Garcia III, City Mayor Francis Garcia and other local officials for having initiated the Tobacco Free Ganeration Movement in this part of the country.
“Let us do away with sponsorship by tobacco manufacturers. Walang sponsorship. Bawal lumapit sa cigarette manufacturers lalo na sa mga teachers,” Briones admonished.
She, however, praised the school teachers who instill good manners and right conduct to their students.
