Time may not be too far off when the municipality of Pilar, used to be a red light district of Bataan, will become a magnet for local and foreign investors.

Pilar Mayor Charlie F. Pizarro disclosed on Wednesday that a private contractor will soon develop a 500-hectare land to become an ultra-modern township complete with basic amenities. He said the cost of the project will reach around P4 billion.

Pizarro said the site is part of the expansion program of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) a law that was filed and approved by the Lower House and the Senate.

The mayor had yet to announce the villages to become part of the development but admitted some irrigable lands had to be sacrificed for development. “The development of the site will soon start with the concurrence of Sangguniang Bayan,” Pizarro explained.
