CAPITOL COMPOUND – In the exigency of government service, Governor Albert S. Garcia, in an Office Order dated July 20, 2018 designated Provincial Information Office head, Mr. Geoffrey Loyola to perform the following functions, in addition to his regular functions effective immediately.
*Supervise the personal staff and units/offices under the Office of the Governor.
*Provide overall coordination in the operation of the Executive Office.
*Provide administrative, communications, policy, protocol, and external affairs support to the Governor.
*Perform such other functions as the Governor may direct.
As such, Loyola is functioning as the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Provincial Governor with a position of PGO Department Head.
This move is unprecedented for this is the first time in the history of the province that such functions are assigned to a specific person.
Prior to his present post, Loyola started his career in public service at the Management Information Systems Office at the City Government of Balanga as Computer Programmer (2002-2004). He subsequently headed the Management Information Systems Office of the PGB from 2004 – 2010. He later served as IT Officer at the office of then Cong. Albert Garcia when the latter served as Representative of the 2nd District of Bataan. In 2013, he assumed again the MIS head post at the PGB and in 2015, the PIO post was likewise given to him.
To date, on top of these two responsibilities, Loyola also serves as Office of Strategy Management Supervising Officer as well as focal person of Provincial Leadership and Governance Program (PLGP- Zuellig) National Resilience Council (NRC), Innovation for Jobs (I4J) and LoGIC Network, HotJobs Philippines, I-Hub, Zzish, The Education Partners (TEP), One Stop Shop System for the Bunker, and for the Unified Communication System (IPBX). among others. He also plays a pivotal role in the province’s Performance Governance System.
As such, it may seem that Loyola has too much on his plate, but knowing the work attitude, dedication and stamina of this man who only needs to play tennis to diffuse stress, the Governor has made the right choice for the job.
Carry on, Geoff!
