GenPact has arrived in Bataan! – a great career closer to home

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Bataan and GenPact this morning at the Emiliana Hall, this City, the prospect of more lucrative career opportunities for Bataeños in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry has been sealed.

In simple ceremonies attended by major stakeholders, no less than Mr. Danilo S. Reyes, GenPact Country Manager was here this morning to sign the agreement together with Governor Albert S. Garcia and Balanga City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III.

Governor Garcia and Mayor Garcia in their respective messages expressed their happiness and gratitude to GenPact for having chosen Bataan as its first provincial site. Both are optimistic that GenPact is a major boost in the attainment of the Province’s vision-mission, that is to provide a better quality of life for all Bataeños and Balanga City in positioning itself as a University Town.

Mayor Garcia in his welcome remarks mentioned that GenPact will continue to utilize the City Library as its assessment and training center while the City Government is in the process of coming up with a City Ordinance, the Balanga City BPO Act of 2015 to further develop and ensure that everything is in place to make the BPO industry feasible and sustainable.

For years now, they have been “courting” BPO companies to come to Bataan, and now that GenPact is finally here, the world class mayor said, “Ang pagdating nyo sa Bataan ay nasa tamang panahon, kung kaya’t masasabi nating, God gave us you, GenPact”.

Governor Garcia underscored the fact that GenPact chose Bataan to be its first provincial site because they saw the potentials of the province and its people. It’s strategic location, the presence of two freeports, the SBMA and FAB, which only Bataan has, and its rich supply of talented manpower resources-our graduates, to name a few.

The hardworking governor also mentioned that, they are pushing this globally expanding industry because as it provides the much needed job opportunities to the people, it does not contribute to pollution, unlike other industries.

GenPact Country Manager, Dan Reyes in his response announced that by June 2016, initially they will be needing at least 300 employees. He also mentioned that they already have quite a number of Bataeños working in their Metro Manila sites, and with the opening of the Bataan site, these employees will now have the chance to be closer to their homes.

He is likewise very optimistic with this venture and even said that “we will grow in Bataan”. Governor Abet on the other hand vowed “we will do whatever it takes to make our partnership fruitful”.
