BALANGA CITY, Bataan- The rapid urbanization due to exceptional eco-industrialization phase of the historic peninsula necessitates the vigorous resources and expertise of the national government in crafting the Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) under the direct supervision of the Office of the President into a more methodical and productive agency.
Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia has justified the proposal of Rep. Joet Garcia of the guaranteed benefits on the part of the province with the attachment of the MBDA to the Office of the President like its counterpart, the MetroManila Development Authority (MMDA) which will provide better-quality economic impact, security and business friendly atmosphere for locators to Bataan which is one of the premier investment hubs in Central Luzon.
Governor Garcia, three-termer Bataan solon of the 2nd congressional district, opines the roles of MMDA in carrying out best performing chores in the planning, monitoring and coordinative aspects and in the process exercises regulatory and supervisory authority over the distribution of valued services that are equally essential and advantageous toward the path of eco-industrial prosperity of the province.
The province hosts vital industries such as the Petron Bataan Refinery, petrochemical industrial complex, Total Petroleum (Philippines), Unioil Philippines ,Philippine National Oil Company- Alternative Fuels Corporation, Philippine Resins Industries, Bataan 2020 paper mills, Department of National Defense ammunition plant and different locators at Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles, Hermosa Economic Zone and Bataan Techno Park in Morong .
Likewise, the operation of the much awaited infrastructure project, the $4 billion Bataan-Cavite toll bridge, the more efficient and effective MBDA is required for its significance in addressing congestion in the Western Central Luzon area.
While the province’s component city is the center of trade and commerce, educational and emerging as commercial growth area in Western Central Luzon corridors it is also projected to become one of the dynamic special economic zones in the historic peninsula in a few years
Governor Garcia added that the upgrading of facilities and closer enforcement of transport and traffic management, solid waste disposal, flood control and sewerage management, urban renewal, zoning and land use planning, health, public safety and other equally-important services are expected to be cohesively administered by the national agencies .
The national government economic policy of distributing development to the countryside would further enhance the metropolitan status of the provinces adjacent to MetroManila like Bataan.
