Gov. Abet opts to formulate eco-tourism plan for Talisay river rehab project

Pilar Mayor Carlos F. Pizarro ,Jr. bared that Governor Albert S. Garcia is opting to devise a long-range eco-tourism development plan for the rehabilitation and improvement of the resources of one of the province’s main rivers as potential tourism hub.

The rehabilitation of the 5 kilometer Talisay river from the upland village of Alauli in Pilar town to the coastal village of Tortugas, Balanga City would hasten the socio-economic and quality of life of the marginalized fisherfolk in the locality.

Mayor Pizarro revealed the other day that the provincial government is planning to embark on massive dredging of heavily silted river and improvement of essential facilities of one of the prime waterways in Bataan despite it is considered productive in the marine environment, however, this is also regarded as the most exploited ecosystem.

During the discussion of the rehabilitation plan, Governor Garcia has enumerated the strategic importance of Talisay river, situated in the boundary of Pilar town and Balanga City as a big factor of rekindling the prosperity trend of local tourism, generate more livelihood projects, creating business opportunities and other service-oriented activities toward the inclusive growth of eco-tourism.

Mayor Pizarro is pursuing other programs that would augment the provincial government in the aspect of motivating more medium-sized entrepreneurs to engage in the revenue earning undertakings in the expanding travel and tourism.
