The Governor explained that with the Province’s estimated SEF Collection of Php 420,399,546 M for 2013, and a total of 133, 345 public school enrollees of the same year, an estimated Php 3,153.00 in SEF revenue is available per public school student. The SEF is the 1% levy imposed by local government units (LGU) in collecting real property taxes, as mandated by the Local Government Code (LGC). Automatically released to the Local School Board (LSB) of every LGU, the SEF is used to fund the operations and maintenance of public schools, construction and repair of school buildings, facilities and equipment, educational research, purchase of books, and sports development. The Governor added that the other programs and services of the Province pertaining to education such as Iskolar ng Bataan and Gurong Iskolar are not sourced from the SEF.

In view of this accomplishment, Gov. Abet challenged not only the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Treasury and Assessor’s offices but each and every one present to continue or work even harder to generate the funds necessary so as to give the public school teachers and principals the much needed support in providing quality education to the students of Bataan.

As he congratulated DepEd Bataan, the hardworking Governor likewise challenged them to take advantage of this recent accomplishment by delivering higher ranking/results in the National Achievement Test (NAT).

Lastly, Gov. Abet reiterated his call on the finalization of the flagship programs of the different departments/agencies as these play a crucial role in the attainment of our Vision-Mission.
