Guhit Pinas-Bataan: Art is life

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In celebration of the National Arts Month, the Provincial Government of Bataan, thru the Provincial Tourism Office, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) and Guhit Pinas-Bataan Chapter led by Mr. Alexander L. Quizon, conducted a Roving Art workshop among grade school students in different schools all over the province.
Mr. Alex Quizon, the prime mover behind Guhit Pinas-Bataan believes in awakening and cultivating/enhancing the artistic talent/gift among the youth and he says it is better if it starts earlier. He added that when children are lured into arts, their perspective in life takes a positive turn. This has been his advocacy for several years now.
Quizon added that he wants to change the mistaken notion that there is no future in art, “pag daw nakikita ng matatanda na nag do drowing ang isang bata, ang madalas daw sabihin, wala kang mapapala sa pag do drowing. Hindi ka mabubuhay sa art. Instead, there are a lot of opportunities in art, on top of which is developing a positive view in life.
This year’s celebration of the National Arts Month revolves on the theme, “Ani ng sining: Celebrating Philippine Festivals”. Hence, members of Guhit Pinas and Bellas Artes thru the support of the local government units painted a total of 12 panels of murals in Bagac depicting the 12 festivals of the 11 municipalities and 1 city of Bataan. At the capitol compound, they also mounted a public installation art, depicting the concept of “Synergy”.
It could be said then that: “Art is life”.
