Health matters most in Bataan

Gov. Abet on Thursday, September 19 presided over the regular Expanded Local Health Board Meeting held at Louis Restaurant, Balanga City.
Focused on updates regarding health issues in the province, said meeting facilitated by the Provincial Health Office was attended by public and private health practitioners and stakeholders in the province.

Aside from updates on actions taken on the discussions during the previous Local Health Board meeting, Provincial Health Officer Dra. Rosanna Buccahan proudly reported that dengue cases in the Province decreased compared to the same period last year.
The monitoring and evaluation of Universal Health Care (UHC) efforts of the province and subcommittee members of the Local Health Board was likewise taken up.

Meanwhile, Ms. Maria Divina Gracia from Mariveles Mental Hospital presented the interventions being implemented in the Municipality of Mariveles in relation to the increasing number of suicide cases, which Governor Albert Garcia commended.
There were suggestions that Mariveles Mental Hospital should also conduct mental health lectures in schools to raise awareness among students on the importance of mental health as well as to break the stigma surrounding the issue and other mental health myth.
