Hermosa opens 1st Teen Information Center

HERMOSA, Bataan – Local officials headed by Municipal Mayor Jopet Inton recently led the formal opening of Hermosa’s first Teen Information Center in Barangay Palihan here.
“Ito ang unang Teen Information Center sa buong bayan ng Hermosa na ang layunin ay makontrol at mabawasan ang mga kabataang sangkot sa maagang pagbubuntis, pakikipagtalik, may bisyo at mga kabataang nakararanas ng problemang sikolohikal. Higit sa lahat ang mabigyan ng tamang edukasyon ang mga kabataan ukol sa mga problemang nabanggit,” says SK Palihan Chairperson, Ynez Gaddi.
Gaddi, thru her Facebook post, thanked those who helped in the establishment of their teen center such as the SK Federation of the Municipality of Hermosa, Casupanan Elementary School SPG, Hermosa National High School Peer Facilitators, Palihan Barangay Council, Commission on Population, Hermosa Sangguniang Bayan members, Paquito Datu, Wilson Valencia, Luz Samaniego, Mayor Jopet Inton, Mr. Eigie Malana and partners from the concerned national and local agencies.
The creation of the teen centers is an offshoot of the partnership between the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Population, and other relevant partner agencies, in its newest initiative dubbed as Youth Optimizing Life Opportunities (YOLO) Program.
Its continuing advocacy and campaign is to address the prevalent youth-related sexuality issues that the young people of today are facing, POPCOM through its Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) Program is one with DepEd and other local program partners in promoting and providing the adolescents better quality health services responsive to the needs and protection of their rights.
