Hermosa to fine vendors who sell cigarette to youths


HERMOSA, Bataan – The municipal government of Hermosa is promoting the Tobacco-Free Generation by penalizing vendors who sell cigarette to any member of “TFG” or those born on or after January 1, 2005.
In its Municipal Ordinance No. 15, the Sanguniang Bayan of Hermosa said “The municipal government is aware of the need to act with dispatch against the entrenched culture of smoking and tobacco consumption among the youths within the local community.”
The local government, therefore, is regulating the sale of tobacco to all young residents to promote and foster a new tobacco-free generation in the municipality of Hermosa.
According to the said ordinance, violators will be fine P1,000 for first offense; P1,500 for second; and P2,500 or six months imprisonment for third.
It added: “In all cases of failure to pay the fine, the offender shall be given at least three days to comply with the penalty; otherwise, a criminal action shall be filed against the violator.
