The Sangguniang Panlalawigan presided by Vice Gov. Cris Garcia has asked the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) to put a historical marker in the monument of hero Tomas Pinpin in the province.

The provincial board during regular session passed the resolution acting on the letter of Gov. Abet Garcia requesting NHCP to establish and install a historical marker to the monument of Tomas Pinpin located at the plaza of Brgy. Mabatang in Abucay.

Board Member Popoy Del Rosario, chairman of the Committee on Tourism, motioned for the approval of the resolution.
“Aside from its historical significance, installing a marker to the monument of our prominent hero is also a boost to our tourism”, the board member said.

The province is enticing tourists by offering natural wonders and historicity.
Pinpin, a native of Abucay, was the first Filipino printer. He published and printed a book, “Librong Pag-aaralan ng mga Tagalog nang Uicang Castilla” in 1610, entirely written by him.
