“Inday Sara” graces Pawikan Festival 2018

MORONG, Bataan – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte – Carpio graced the Annual Pawikan Festival at the Pawikan Conservation Center yesterday, December 2 in Barangay Nagbalayong, this municipality.
Mayor Sara was warmly welcomed by Governor Abet S. Garcia; Ms. Vicky Garcia of Bataan Tourism Council Foundation Inc.; Ms. Maria Isabel Garcia, wife of Cong. Joet Garcia; Mayor Cynthia Estanislao of Morong, Ms. Danica Tigas of Bataan Tourism Office, other officials of the Bataan Tourism Center and heads of the different departments of the Provincial Government of Bataan. The PUP – Mariveles Bandang Kawayan and Koro Bangkal Magbikin provided performed to the delight of the audience.
Prior to the ceremonial releasing of pawikan hatchlings, in her short speech, Mayor Sara expressed her gratitude to the Bataeños, describing the province as wonderful. She mentioned that they also have a pawikan conservation center in Davao City because protecting the environment is also one of their advocacies.
Winners in the street dancing competition in the Regional Category are 3rd place – TARLAC (cash prize worth Php 100k), 2nd place – ZAMBALES (cash prize worth Php 200k), and the champion – BATAAN (cash prize worth Php 260k).
Meanwhile winners in the Provincial Category are 3rd place – PILAR (cash prize worth Php 50k), 2nd place – BALANGA CITY (cash prize worth Php 70k), and the champion – Hermosa (cash prize worth Php 100k).
The Pawikan Festival was organized to intensify the information campaign and generate public awareness on the importance of endangered baby Olive Ridley turtles (Lepidochelys Olivacea), the smallest in the world) in our eco-system.
