Institutionalization of agri-engineering profession to benefit BPSU graduates

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The institutionalization of agricultural engineering profession in the province will benefit agriculture graduates from Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU).

“Graduates of BS Agricultural Engineering and BS Agriculture courses from BPSU Abucay Campus can be accommodated in local government units in Bataan once the institutionalization of agricultural engineering profession is done, which is what the law mandates”, pointed out BPSU Abucay Campus Director Engr. Jonathan Lacayanga in his recent guesting at local radio station 91.1 Sikat FM. “They can find work right in the province”, he added.

Philippine Society of Agricultural Engineers Bataan Chapter President Ronald Garcia who was with Lacayanga during the radio guesting said, “Based on Republic Act 8559 or the Philippine Agricultural Engineering Act of 1998,  LGUS are mandated to create a division  or plantilla positions  for agricultural engineers.”

“RA 10601 or the Agricultural and Fishery Mechanization Law and RA 10915 or the Philippine Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Act of 2016 also mandate the institutionalization of Agricultural Engineering Profession in the LGUs”, he added.

“Currently registered agricultural engineers in the country are underemployed by the government. They do the work of an agricultural   engineer but receive the salary of agriculture technician”, lamented Lacayanga.

The BPSU Abucay Campus director said former provincial board member Guding Ferrer backs the creation of division or plantilla positions of agricultural engineers in the province.
