BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The municipalities of Samal and Pilar were awarded last night with Silver Trailblazer Awards during the Public Governance Revalida of the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) yesterday.
“We are one step closer in achieving our vision that Pilar will be the Historical-Cultural Tourism center of Luzon by 2020,” Pilar LGU posted on their Facebook page. Samal town in the first district was also awarded with the same accolade.
“In courageous efforts of uplifting the standards of governance in the public sector, the Local Government Unit of Samal was able to pass the Initiation Stage Public Revalida of the Performance Governance System (PGS). Also, Samal snatched the Silver Trailblazer Award given by the Institute of Solidarity in Asia (ISA) at the Bayanihan Center, Unilab Compound, Pasig City on June 21,” Samal Mayor Generosa “Gene” Dela Fuente posted on her Facebook Page.
Meanwhile, Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion of Mariveles reported that his town passed the initiation stage, together with the municipality of Orani under the leadership of Mayor Efren “Bondjong” Pascual.
The PGS enables public offices, professional associations, and academic institutions to articulate long-term development goals, organization- and community-wide accountabilities, and transparency through sustainable governance mechanisms.
The PGS program has four stages: initiation, compliance, proficiency, and institutionalization. Before conferring the PSG stage to the institution, candidate agencies were validated through specific targets in a Governance Scorecard.
PGS revalida candidates are rated on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest and 7.5 as the passing score.
