Under the challenging heat of the sun during the program, checks with large amounts as financial assistance were distributed by Mayor Efren “Bondjong” Pascual Jr. to different sectors including the single parents association, fisher folk groups, tricycle groups to name a few.
Pascual was assisted by Vice Mayor Bong Galicia and the municipal council members along with other guests from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other sectors.
Former 1st District of Bataan Rep. Herminia B. Roman was also present during the celebration to represent her daughter, Congresswoman Geraldine B. Roman who was invited by the Senate of the Philippines to grace the flag raising ceremony in connection with the International Women’s Day celebration.
Wheelchairs, slings and canes were also given to persons with disabilities (PWDs) through the municipal and provincial social welfare and development offices led by Mrs. Marilyn Tigas.
Thirty Nego-Karts or three-wheeled bicycle carts used by ambulant vendors were also distributed to 30 chosen beneficiaries. The project was done under the bottom-up budgeting or the BuB Project of the DSWD for Sustainable Livelihood Program.
“Umaasa ang ating pamahalaang bayan na sa darating na mga araw ay masukat ang magandang ibubunga nito sa ating mga kababayan na nabigyan ng pagkakataon upang makapagsimula ng pagkakakitaan para sa kanilang pamumuhay,” Pascual said on the distribution of the Negokarts.
