BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is optimistic that the Galing Bataan products could penetrate the global market with the commitment of local entrepreneurs to continuously improve the quality and upgrade their processes to comply with the mandatory international food requirements and standards.
Mrs. Nelin O. Cabahug, DTI provincial director for Bataan said during a radio interview over 104.5 FM that locally processed tuyo, tinapa and other premium food delicacies are mostly-placed in hand carried travelling bags of balikbayans when they return to the United States, Canada, Australia and other middle eastern countries.
Cabahug, a certified public accountant and college professor explained that small and medium sized enterprises should adopt an aggressive business attitude in developing top quality products and concentrate on technology upgrading and acquisition of new equipment to enhance productivity.
She discussed the high demand for Galing Bataan products which have gained popularity in the international market. She said that with the latest information technology concept, export marketing and production development approaches, businessmen and traders can now achieve accessibility to compete in ASEAN economic integration which opens next year.
She added that the government’s vigorous export promotions and regular training programs on packaging processed food are extremely necessary elements in the global market.
