MARIVELES, Bataan – Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appreciated the move of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) and the provincial government headed by Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia to carry out a comprehensive Mount Samat Shrine of Valor master plan located in Pilar town as an impressive venture to encourage ecotourism development in the historic peninsula’s famous battle ground.
Marcos said the proposed master plan is truly a valuable instrument to guide prospective investors who would participate in the rehabilitation, improvement and upgrading of structures and facilities of the Mount Samat to become a world-class tourist destination in the country.
During a press conference held yesterday at the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) in the coastal village of Alas-Asin, this town, Marcos cited the significant role of Mount Samat as one of the fiercest battle sites in the sacred ground of Bataan peninsula.
He urged local and foreign capitalists while espousing business driven public-private partnership should reinforce linkages with other historical landmarks such as the nearby Corregidor Island, Death March starting points and other memorable battle sites of World War 11.
Marcos, Senate Transportation Committee chair said the proponents of the Mount Samat Master Development Plan should earnestly consider improving the airports and seaports facilities and other means of formulating efficient transport of visitors to the Mount Samat Shrine of Valor.
Mount Samat Shrine of Valor was constructed during the incumbency of the late President Ferdinand Marcos sometime in the early 60‘s.
