Mariveles LG officials back AFAB law amendments

MARIVELES, Bataan – Local government officials of this town are backing the proposed amendments on the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Law.

This town’s officials led by Mayor AJ Concepcion recently met Bataan 2^nd District Rep. Joet Garcia and an AFAB representative in a consultation meeting in Congress to show their support to the amendments of the said law.

In 2009, RA 9728 or the Freeport Area of Bataan Act of 2009 converted the Bataan Economic Zone located in this town into a special economic zone, the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).

“Cong. Joet called the consultation meeting between Mariveles and AFAB  officials regarding the amendments and discussed the functions of each party”, Councilor Tito Catipon explained.

“The amendments will include, among others, the sea waters to become part of the Freeport”, said Angel Sunga.

“This move amending the Freeport law is timely and good, it will further boost development inside FAB and of course the town of Mariveles. We in the LGU thru the leadership of Mayor Concepcion and Vice Mayor Lito Rubia are fully supporting this initiative”, he added.

Aside from Concepcion, Catipon, and Sunga, Councilors Joey Carandang and Emson Reyes, and Municipal Administrator Danilo Velasco attended the consultation meeting in Congress.
