MARIVELES, Bataan- Sixteen persons with disability (PWD) are currently showcasing their talents as they vie in the Search for Mr. and Ms. PWD held in Mariveles People’s Park, one of the highlights of the town fiesta here next week.

Aside from this, Mayor Jesse I. Concepcion has also set the “Buntis congress”, to titillate the public.

Now on his third and last term, Mayor Concepcion said the annual pageant aims to uplift the self-esteem of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and promote their rights as they continually integrate into the community.

The search is organized by the Municipality of Mariveles led by Mayor Concepcion and Sangguniang Bayan Committee on PWD chair and town councilor Mel Lopez.

Over 600 people are currently watching the spectacle which is part of the month-long celebration of the Mariveles Liberation Day.

On Buntis congress, about  150 pregnant women received yesterday a day of pampering as they got free services and entertainment in the Buntis Congress to be held in Mariveles town.

Municipal Health officer Dr. Danny Velasco said the beneficiaries coming from the town’s 18 barangays will get a makeover, haircut, film showing on healthy pregnancy, and OB kit that contains medicine, vitamins and paraphernalia for the actual labor.

After this, a pageant of 15 pregnant women will be held in which they will parade during next week’s fiesta in formal gown and showcase talents and wit.

This Buntis Congress is part of the 69th Liberation Day of Mariveles led by Mayor Concepcion.
